Total Lunar Eclipse (3/4 March 2007)

During the night of 3-4 March 2007 a total lunar eclipse took place. The evening of 3 March was bright, but it got cloudy and even started to rain. During totality (23:45 - 0:58) there were some holes in the clouds, and the eclipsed moon could be seen as a weak red ball. After 1am the sky became clear again. The picture above is taken at 1:10 and show the magnitude of a number of nearby stars.

The picture on the left was taken at 0:58 just at the end of totality.
